Walter McCarthy was a pitcher who was asked to report to spring training in February 1930 by Charles Comiskey. He never played in a major league game but was sent back down to the minor leagues in May and released in August of 1930. This collection is arranged in one folder. It contains an American League of Professional Baseball Clubs player contract, dated 1930, with a salary of $3000.00. There is a typed letter inviting McCarthy to the Chicago White Sox spring training camp in Texas, signed by Charles Comiskey. There is a spring training schedule, roster, a couple of newspaper clippings and a copy of his minor league contract card.
